Guide-outfitters Association of British Columbia looking to take food away from my family?

As a resident hunter I am appalled at the Guide-outfitters Association of British Columbia’s attempt to reduce my hunting opportunities away. We do NOT want our wildlife sold to foreign trophy hunters! My ability to hunt and harvest wild game species in BC is what I use to fill my freezer and feed my family.

Over 70,000 BC hunters apply for only 13,000 lottery licenses to hunt moose annually. For example, only 1 in 5 hunters gets to hunt moose every year with an LEH to feed their family. Foreign hunters can come here every year as long as they have the money and take moose permits away from 3,000 BC hunters every year. Most jurisdictions across North America give foreign hunters 5-10 percent of the harvest surplus.

The Guide Outfitters Association of BC wants to increase that to 25-40 percent in BC, leaving thousands of resident hunters at home with empty freezers. I find that unacceptable. We would like to see wildlife divided fairly in BC, 90 percent going to British Columbians and 10 percent going to foreign trophy hunters and the outfitters who guide them.

GOABC members are 210, BC Resident Hunters are 102,000.

Less than .2 percent wants FORTY percent of sheep, grizzlies and goats and 25% of all else?

DO NOT SELL OUR WILDLIFE TO FOREIGN INTERESTS!

KEEP BC’s WILDLIFE FOR BC FAMILIES!

I hope the provincial government is listening.
