We are now a couple months into our 2019 membership year and with the additional 700 members that are joining us, it is vitally important that all members, new and current, are taking responsibility to make sure you, your guests, and other members are safe while visiting Abbotsford Fish and Game Club.

Up to this point, it has not been necessary to have staffed Range Officers on the ranges to monitor our members. This is one of the benefits that makes our club so popular, along with not having a lot of useless rules and regulations to impede the types of shooting that different members prefer.

But, you may be asking, “How do I deal with a safety concern while at the club and on the range?”

Please follow the procedure below if you see something of concern at the range or anywhere while at the Club:

A copy of all the Range Rules can be found near the entry door of every range for reference. The full rules are also available online here.

If you see a member or guest doing something that contravenes the rules or is a safety concern, please approach the member in a cool-headed manner and speak to them about your concerns. We find that most members are receptive to help, especially if they are new members.

If the member listens to your concern and corrects his or her actions, and you feel that no further action is needed, please carry on about your shooting. If you feel that the infraction was serious enough to warrant a follow-up by the BOD, please fill out a Safety Infraction Form and submit it to the BOD.

If the member or guest does not correct their action or you feel the conversation is becoming confrontational, then please immediately remove yourself from the situation. If this manner needs immediate attention, please contact our caretakers by calling them at: 780-266-2357. If they are available they will come to assess the situation right away.

If the caretakers are not available, when it is safe to do so, pack up your equipment and either move to another range or leave the Club. In this case filling out the Safety Infraction Form would be mandatory so that the situation can be addressed by the BOD. Any names or photos that help explain what you saw would be very helpful.

Once a safety infraction form has been submitted to the BOD, you will be contacted by them to follow up on the situation you witnessed. The BOD takes all infraction seriously and will be dealt with in an appropriate manner.

All information filled on this form will be considered private communication between you and the Board of Directors.
