Wow! All of a sudden, we get 2-3 volunteers out lately to assist. Also, our latest attendance has been 11-16 shooters.
We try to mention to new attendees the varied programs we have at AFGC, but it would be great if we had a pamphlet with contact numbers to hand out that they could take home.
We are seeing younger ones coming out to enjoy the shooting sports, and with their mother or father to assist.
We have purchased one basic spotter scope, and if it works well, will purchase some more. We are also looking at introducing our shooters to the use of a sling to enhance their accuracy.
Some come out just to shoot and enjoy themselves; others come to improve their shooting skills. We need to accommodate both.
I would love to set up some cameras for target viewing, but they will probably become the target themselves. Maybe if we place a berm on the inside range to protect them – just kidding?.
We have Abbotsford Christian Schools Outdoor Club joining us in early December, with a training session at the school beforehand.
We are also setting up a time for Aboriginal Sport, Recreation and Physical Activity Partners Council to join us later in November for their youth to join us. Both groups are repeat attendees.
It is awesome when we can take the time with youth groups to introduce them to the shooting sports and gun safety. If any members would like to assist at these special events, please let me know. Our biggest group last year was a church youth group with 51 attendees. We cycled them through the outdoor and indoor ranges, instructing them both on handgun and rifle safety, and providing an opportunity to shoot both.
By the Way (BTW), the young lady shooting in the centre photo started a Facebook web page called the “Canadian Gun Girl”.
