Dear Members,
With the OIC passed last Friday, members must be aware that any firearms included in the list are now considered prohibited and MAY NOT be used. That means you cant use them at the range, buy them or sell them. If you take these firearms to the range you risk severe personal liability if caught.
All AR15s and AR10 variants, CZ Evo, Beretta CX4, Swiss Arms, VZ58, all 50cal, M14, Ruger mini14, Robinson XCR, Sig MCX, anything 20mm+. Do not transport these to the range. This includes any law enforcement members using the range outside of official rentals.
Here is the full list:

Handguns are not affected.
The 20mm+ ban may also affect some shotguns, two lawyer opinions have deemed that this is possible with the current wording of the law.
According to the CSSA, the RCMP have already reclassified a shotgun as prohibited, the Iver Johnson single-shot, fixed choke 12-gauge shotgun with a 2 3/4″ chamber. Read more about it here.
There are two e-petitions currently taking signatures.

The NFA and CCFR have both announced court challenges to the firearms bans. Please consider joining and donating to these organizations. The Club is looking into its own means of assisting. You can also support a gun friendly political party.
Sincerely,
Rob Engh, President AFGC
It’s unfortunate that the members have to suffer with the current gun bans. It adds further salt to the wounds of the paying membership that this club continues to allow law enforcement to rent and train with these weapons. Why not ban all those weapons irregardless of whom has them until these bans are fought and won in court. Let them suffer too.
We have contracts in place that we’ve had for decades with those agencies. However we will not be allowing officers to bring their work carbines (or as the Liberals call them, assault style rifles) during open times. They will only be allowed to use them during rentals.
So glad assault rifles are banned. My family have been hunters and stewards of the land for generations. Assault rifles have no place in a civilized world. I do realize the ridiculousness of that statement.
No assault rifles have been banned, sporting and hunting rifles have been banned and also some shotguns. If you buy into the Liberals attempt at Newspeak regarding their idiotic ban you need to educate yourself on what was actually done.
I believe now is not the time to make comments such as “let them suffer too”.
Firstly, those law enforcement officers that have rented the range are doing so in an effort to maximize their proficiency with a firearm that may save their lives or the lives of the general public. It is a condition of employment.
Secondly, I don’t believe now is the time to argue amongst ourselves. It doesn’t matter if you are a police officer, a butcher, a baker, or a candlestick maker.
We are all responsible firearm owners and in this together.
I believe Patrice was being facetious……
Assault-style guns. Is that better?
Hello, I shoot a 58 cal black powder remmington rifle.. does this announcement mean that it is prohibited?
If the bore diameter is more than 20mm then it falls within the new ban, but I would recommend confirming with the RCMP.
What kind of hunting do you do Mr. Engh? I am new to BC and am eager to explore this beautiful province and would appreciate any advice you may have. I understand that hunting and fishing are still allowed.
No black powder rifles/muskets are banned. The ban refers to muzzle energy of 10 000 Joules or more, which would include .50cal BMG rifles. Muzzle loaders are not anywhere near that. Even a .75cal Brown Bess is still under the 20mm diameter and 10 000 J.
As a law abiding gun owner I feel this ban should have been looked at more carefully and not with banning specific weapons. A good majority of those banned are smuggled into Canada from the United States and used by the criminal element.
Let the punishment of those entities be more harsh than on law abiding citizens who find joy in target shooting or hunting.
14000 people have died in Canada from opioid overdose in past four years , when Government is going to ban opioids, answer is they are already banned. I think you get my point. And yes it’s not 1400 it’s 14000.
Well, I guess I don’t need a membership anymore!
Hey Rob Engh,
Thanks for the updates. I know you have eluded to the club deciding how to contribute. Between the surplus I’ve heard the club has, and for the interest of sport shooters (ATS, steel pistol range, all the prohibited firearms owners now) I hope we see a significant donation. The largest i have heard is $20,000 to CCFR from a sask gun club. I think we can beat that.
This ban will likely affect membership on a large scale (good or bad depending on how you look at it)
Thanks
We had decided ages ago to donate $5000 to each of the 3 gun orgs
