August is here and with it a continuing heat wave. Please be extra careful of what you are shooting, a spark could easily start another grass fire on range 2 in this heat.
As some of you will have noticed we have new benches on the line courtesy of Hardy Staub and his helpers. Unfortunately some of those tables already have staples in them. I will stress this again, if you are caught putting staples into posts or tables you will have your membership revoked. I was lucky and saw the staple as I was putting my brand new CC Diemaco rifle down on one of the tables. I would have been pretty upset if I’d not seen it, and ended up scratching my gun. If you need to know if your stapler works, use a target backer, or your leg… (kidding, use a buddy’s leg) (ok even more kidding), but DO NOT USE OUR BENCHES!!!!!!!!!!!
We will not be having any meetings this month as so many people are away and couldn’t commit to a meeting. Our next series of meetings will be in September with a General on the First Thursday and an Exec on the Second Thursday.
We are looking for a treasurer, as our current treasurer is unable to fulfill the commitment and needs to be replaced. If you have been a member for at least 5 years and have any experience doing accounting or bookkeeping, are interested in doing this job, please contact me, president@afgc.ca
Work is progressing on the Range 2 upgrade project with the committee just waiting for a final set of drawings. Things with the city took a lot longer than expected so this project will be starting toward the end of the summer. The new indoor range project is also moving along slowly, with more of the city consultations taking a significant amount of time.
