Welcome to fall! Summer finally let go it’s strangle hold and we’ve had some amazing weather down at the range, some good wind storms, fallen trees, and lots of rain. Typical BC, probably be sunny and warm in January….
As many have noticed the range 2 expansion hasn’t really broken ground yet, beyond the placement of some blocks at the 100yd and 100m lines. This is due to the ridiculously large amount of work required by the city for this project and the wait times on building permits. We have sent out the scope of work packages to interested builders and only received one quote. Until we can get some competitive quotes, that are more realistic in dollar value, the building of the new shed will be put on hold. We will be going forward with the lights though and hopefully those are up before the New Year.
Beyond that, staples in benches, still, every week. Remember, if you get caught putting a staple in a bench or post, your membership may be revoked. We simply cannot have people leaving these things around for others to ruin clothing or guns on. The target backers, or perhaps your own hand (sarcasm) are the place to test staplers.
Now that we’ve hit Standard Time, please remember that the archers will NOT be on the hill on Wednesday afternoons, this means the ranges are open until 10pm every night. EXCEPT archery Sunday, which sees the ranges closed for the day. Please read the calendar to make sure you know what is going on. Geoff does an amazing job keeping up to date on that.
It would be appreciated if members could shoot a note of thanks to City of Abbotsford, I ran into their road works guys the other day as they were patching those massive holes on Lakemount, thanked them personally, which they appreciated, and then drove, mostly bump free, down to the range. I am sure they would love to get some emails or calls letting them know we appreciate their work patching the road in.
