After some further testing with the new Binary Explosive Targets that are now available in Canada under brand names like Tannerite and Shockwave, the Board of Directors of provisionally approved the use of these targets with certain restrictions.

  • Guidelines must be followed in accordance with the manufacturers instructions
  • Maximum allowable single charge must be no more than 1/2 pound
  • Multiple targets must be placed at least 36″ apart to not cause a chain reaction
  • Targets can only be placed on the ground or berm where the possibility for damage is minimized
  • Placing on trap mounds is strictly prohibited
  • Targets will be allowed on Range 2 and 3 only
  • Targets may only be detonated between the hours of 10:00 am and 6:00 pm when ranges are open
  • In no way should any charge be bound, restricted or contained to amplify or direct the blast, nor should any objects be attached to the containers
  • Targets must be used in original manufacturers container and any shrapnel must be cleaned off the range after use.

Failure to comply with these rules will result in the BOD having to re-assess the use of these targets for everyone, and that would be no fun!
