Please read the following quick update on the Stone’s sheep project since the last update in October.

Since then:

  • No mortalities have occurred
  • We gathered 15 more body fat measurements and redeployed one collar in December
  • We Installed trail cameras on winter ranges to track snow accumulation and icing.
  • In February a population survey was conducted to better assess the population size and trend in the area – the final numbers are still pending.

To close out the year, our final round of body condition measurements is scheduled for late March. Looking ahead to the coming year’s activities, we will focus on winter forage assessments—planned for mid-June—continue monitoring survival and reproduction, and finalize our management recommendations.

Belwo is our latest newsletter with more details on our more recent fieldwork.
