We had a fantastic event on Saturday April 26th at the range where AFGC in partnership with the Wild Sheep Society of BC (WSSBC) hosted the first Women Shaping Conservation Women’s Shoot.
There were 26 ladies who came out to the event and many of they had not shot before or had very little exposure to firearms. They had the opportunity to shot 12 gauge shotgun and clays, 9mm handgun, 223 Rifle, 7mm08 Rifle and 22 rifle over the course of 4 hours on ranges 2 and 2B. Both Rebecca Peters (Women Shaping Conservation) and Kerry Baird (AFGC) did a great job as the hosts and had the opportunity to share about the movement of women getting into the shooting and hunting space more and more and provided a lot of information about the AFGC club and the impact they are having in the gun advocacy and conservation support BC and country wide.
Huge shoutout to Tiffany and her team from Silvercore, Hermes and his team from Reliable Guns, Daryl, Ron and the trap guys and many other volunteers who volunteered their time to help out on the ranges to ensure every live gun had a volunteer at it training the ladies on how to shoot. One lady said she learned more in 4h with us that she had learned in 10 years of shooting a gun with her husband!
The next event we will be Co-Hosting with the WSSBC will be the Sheep Horn Aging Event with special guest Bill Jex. This will be hosted at AFGC Range 1 on July 8th at 7pm.
