Non-Tidal Local Rivers

Fraser River: early spring like conditions low but clean. Sturgeon anglers doing well right now (March). Guides are choosing lamp rays, chum roe, salmon hearts and oolichons.

Good numbers of steelhead are still being hooked above the Mission Bridge (bar rig style/baited spin glows).

Cut throat are really starting to show up now due to smooth and fry hatches. Successful anglers are using flies, single eggs and garden worms.

Chinook are still closed until further notice. Please report illegal nets!

Fraser River clean up was well attended, with over 300 residents showing up. Loren and Elaine Sherbina represented the AFGC. Thanks to all who participated.

Vender and Chehalis Rivers are slowing up now. Steelhead are paired up and very spooky now. Successful anglers have dropped down to #2 hooks and 6 lb test mainline and leader. Egg and eye pattern working well. I got an 8lb kelt using it on April 1st. Lots of rainbows, whitefish and dollies are easy to hook now, use small eggs or small spinners, also beading is producing lots of spooky fish.

Local Lakes

Kakawa Lake has suddenly come alive: cut throats, rainbows, and Kokanee are biting well. Use krill, single eggs, worms or small flies.

Harrison Lake still producing some small rainbows as well as good sized cut throat, white fish and dollie varden.

Interior Lakes

Caribou Lakes are pretty much done now. Ice is dangerous but get ready for fly fishing this year. The lakes will soon turn as soon as El Niño has it’s way.

Thanks,
