The Provincials are over and that tends to mark the end of the shooting season for the year in BC. Congratulations to everyone for doing well. AFGC had a great podium count!

A special congratulations to Justin Yan as the most improved shooter for the year with a 32% increase in scores over last year. I’d like to think it was all the practice nights over the last couple months!

We do have a couple more matches coming up in September, a Level 1 at TMSA and a Level 2 at Poco. The Poco match will be the start of the 2025 stats.

I am going to take a break from running practices through the rest of September, as turn out tends to be low after Provincials. Once October comes up we’ll see how everyone feels. We will be moving back to the indoor range when the weather gets bad.

There has been some genuine interest in having Abby put on a Level 2 match next year and if we can get enough people to commit to volunteering, I think we can put on a great match. If you are able to help in some capacity, please let me know.

Art Reich has been working hard to build us some more walls and repair the ones we have, thank you! We will also need to paint these walls once they are done, so we can have that professional look everyone at the Nationals was impressed with. More details to come, but if you’re able to volunteer on a Saturday in the future for a work party, it would be greatly appreciated. We will also need some steel wall bases to be built and welded together to accommodate our new walls, so if you’ve got capacity to help build some bases, please let me know.

I’m also looking to buy some more equipment over the winter so we can be fully stocked with new toys for the Spring. We’ve had really good luck with the Targets USA swingers and they make some other stuff that looks like fun!

We have a new Zone Director now in the Fraser Valley, Abby member Mike Palacz, congratulations!

We may be able to put together a small order of jerseys for any member that didn’t get a chance to order any. Let me know and we’ll see what can happen.

Thank you all for your support of the Abby IPSC Team and our practices. They are really paying off, and if people keep coming out on a regular basis, I will keep organizing them.

Sincerely,
Geoff Fraser
