Local Rivers:
Fraser River: tidal and non-tidal – Portions of the Fraser open again for Trout and Steelhead. 1 Steelhead/day limit, 10 per year limit. Single barbless hooks. Trout are plentiful and day to catch – 4/day limit, single barbless hook.
The Sturgeon fishery has improved with the warm days. Single barbless hooks – Release Mandatory!!
Good action occurring in the salt for winter Chinooks. 2/day limit. Use anchovies and flashers, angle the outgoing tides, don’t forget hoochies and apex lures, try different flasher patterns.
Chilliwack/Vedder: The Steelhead are not here yet. Only 1 fish weighed in at the Chilliwack Rod and Gun derby! 10lb 6oz doe – got first fish and biggest fish prizes (cleaned up!!)
Harrison/Chehalis: The Harrison steelies are being hooked in the Fraser Island 22 beach – drifting and bottom fishing with spin glow. Limit 1 fish/day – single barbless use roe gooey boobs, shrimp and dew worm.
Chehalis is not happening yet – soon they will be showing.
Stave: is slow for Steelhead – good Trout fishing – use single egg’s and minnow patterns are the ticket!
Local Lakes:
Still producing and better day’s now with warmer conditions. East and west Harrison, Hicks, Der, Weaver, Wold, Grace and Lookout plus Wood still giving up Rainbows and Cutthroats. Single barbless, use single eggs, worms, shrimp and corn for back up. Again minnow patterns for a change up!!
Interior Lakes:
Really starting up now! Everywhere has 7-9” of ice. Maggots, shrimp, blood worms in your arsenal will work well for you. Be slow!
To all of you may –
Your Hooks stay sharp
Your Arrows to their mark
Your ammunition perfect to it’s Mary!
