Happy New Year everyone, and what a great start to the year. Justin Trudeau has stated he “intends” to resign as soon as a new Liberal Party leader is selected. Sadly, he also prorogued parliament, which is, well, disgusting, but not unexpected either. Once a General Election is called please, please remember that it is the Liberal party that is responsible for all the anti-gun madness, along with the NDP, and not just Justin. Just because they will be changing leaders doesn’t mean we are going to see a Liberal party that is friendly towards guns. In the last 2 years they have reduced sport shooting by 60- 70 percent. That is a massive and damaging blow to our sports. It has led to the closure of many small businesses, the laying off/firing of thousands of employees across Canada and the complete destruction of value to tens of millions of firearms. Hundreds of millions of dollars just wiped out due to an incomprehensible fear of guns. If you value our sport, our club, and your right to own property, they cannot be elected again, to do so is letting them win and quite frankly that can’t happen.
On to other news, at this year’s AGM one of the positions that is up for election is Secretary. Emily, our current secretary, has indicated she will not be seeking to be reelected, and so we are looking for a new secretary. I am putting this out now so that potential candidates could be in contact with Emily to get an idea of how things are done, before the AGM. Emily has completely revamped how the position works and established a code of practices that are the best I’ve ever seen on any board anywhere. I hope to see that continue with a new secretary, so if you are interested in running for this position, please contact us as soon as possible (president@afgc.ca and secretary@afgc.ca) to learn more.
Enjoy the weather, as it’s going to be relatively mild for the next few weeks apparently.
