AFGC would like to express our heartfelt support for Chris and Shalane Talkes, who have been dedicated members of our organization for over 11 years. Chris has also served on our Board of Directors for many years and continues to be an invaluable asset to AFGC.

The Talkes family is currently facing an incredibly difficult time. Shalane has been diagnosed with Stage 4 Spindle Cell Sarcoma and Oral Cancer in her tongue. During her hospital admission for the placement of a gastrointestinal feeding tube, she tragically suffered a cardiac arrest. Thankfully, the medical team was able to revive her. She is currently in the ICU, awaiting a tracheostomy, and the next steps for radiation or chemotherapy are still uncertain. Shalane faces a long and challenging road to recovery and will require extensive in-home care.

Chris, who has always been reluctant to ask for help, has had a GoFundMe campaign set up to assist with her aftercare needs. We kindly ask that you consider offering your support during this difficult time for the Talkes family. Your generosity would mean so much to them as they navigate these challenging circumstances.
