March’s ATS saw some old faces out, as well as some new participants, for a group of 5 shooters. The AM ‘bluegun prework’ is proving to be popular, and will be a regular feature, for the next while.
This month’s regular ATS shoot is Sunday, 22 April
Range 3, 0930, for the regular shoot; RSVP, if you plan on attending. Standard round count, 250 rnds per platform (birdshot for the shotguns).
For the Veritac Alumni, if I get 2+ response from you, we will do some bluegun drills from 0830 to 0930, with some potential live fire at the end of the regular ATS day (probably 1400-1500, +/-). Note, if you are not there for the AM bluegun, you won’t shoot the live fire- no exceptions.
A gear change up; please note, unless a special exception is given, Serpa and Serpa style holsters are not. Holsters are expected to be model specific, hard moulded holsters without floppy retention straps, that do not collapse after the gun is drawn; no generic nylon holsters are permitted.
First CQB shoot of the season, courtesy of the February snows, is 14 April. Register early, as the 60 slots fill quickly. actionrifleleague@gmail.com, to register, and for more information.
ATS will be hosting two weekend courses, from Veritac Solutions; one being a multi weapon operations – combined carbine/pistol course, and the other a dismounted and small teams tactics course– working around vehicles, and small team operations (the multi weapons course, or equivalent, being a prerequisite). A four hour medical component on the Friday night is a component of both courses.
Dates: MWO- 18-20 May; DSTO- 25-27 May.
For those looking for a June roadtrip to Calgary, a ShivWorks alumni is hosting an Immediate Action Jiujitsu/Pugilism, instructed by ShivWorks guru Chris Burch, June 23/24th . Contact ATS for more information, if you’re interested in attending.
