Local Rivers:
Fraser River: Tidal and Non-tidal portions of the Fraser – this month is the best for most anglers, lots of Coho, Chinook and Chum – fully open October 1st. Sturgeon are big and hungry – best to use salmon parts!
Chilliwack/Vedder: The late September storm has filled the watershed with Coho and Chinook: fish with roe, shrimp wool tipped with krill scent or the favourites now are the purple and blue jigs – chenille white hackle is also a favourite tipped with herring or anchovies oil.
Harrison/Chehalis: Has suddenly come alive with Coho, Chum, Chinook and Trout as the water has come up significantly. Use roe wool corkies, spin-n-glo dew worms, deli shrimp and krill. For hardware Crocodiles and Hammered spoons.
Local Lakes:
Kawkawa: has picked up again and some are still boating. Kokanee and Rainbow Trout close to the bottom is the most productive. Also reports of large and plentiful crayfish.
East and West Harrison: Rainbows, Cutthroat, Char and White Fish are plentiful again – lots of water now. Best Baits are worms, deli shrimp, krill, salmon eggs as well as spinners and spoons.
Interior Lakes:
All have picked up again due to hazy sky’s and rain which brought cooler water and clear conditions. Fish with Caddis patterns, blood red worm fly pattern, leaches and Chrianomids that fit the hatch size: for natural baits – worms, shrimp krill and single salmon eggs.
