Local Rivers Non-Tidal

Fraser River: has coloured and risen significantly since the last week of April. If boating please be cautious of floating debris on its way to River mouth. Freshet will be very long this year due to substantial snow packs in the Ominica and Chillcotin regions.

For sturgeon guides are using lamprays, oolichons and worms.

Vedder River: fresh steelhead are still coming into the system, the lower river is best for hatchery fish but a few are being killed at the top.

Best baits: shrimp, roe, jigs, and colorado’s.

River closes May 1st to June 30th. Fly fishing only in lower river! Total closure June 1st to the 30th.

Interior Lakes: low elevation lakes are ice free and will turn soon.

Best Baits are: leeches, blood worms, shrimp, or small chrionomids.

Local Lakes: both east and west Harrison Lakes fishing well for rainbows, cut throats, kokanee. Bait fishing best with salmon eggs, worms, shrimp.

Fly fishing with leeches, doc spratleys, pumpkin heads, half backs, or chrionomids.

Troll with wedding bands dressed with a worm or roe sack or troll small lucky bugs and hildebrant spoons.

Cultus Lake producing large cut throat and bull trout. Use plugs or spoons 10 to 60 feet deep.
