LOCAL RIVERS
- Chilliwack/Vedder: fully open to Angling, (1 Chinook per day). It is too early to tell if returns have been successful! Very good trout fishing, Steelhead also still in system. Baits are krill; single eggs and worms. For hardware use small spinners; corkies and spinglows. Minnow patterns and spratleys are also a good choice.
- Fraser: is still high and stained with less debris coming down. Sturgeon are very active now due to warming. Best baits are salmon parts; eels; roe sacks and pike minnow. We boated a 7footer last week and saw 4 more boil. There are some brutes out there! Still no word on any Fraser River salmon opening….tentatively August 1
- Chehalis: prime now for all species!morning fish is best as the clear conditions are giving your movements away.
- Harrison: is now prime for trout fishing. Best baits are krill and worms; single eggs. There is no word from DFO on Spring openings.
- Local Lakes: are producing good numbers of trout. They are deeper in the heat of the day. Troll quickfish or worms as well as soft plastics.
- Interior Lakes: now in full swing. Slow sinking chrionomids and shrimp patters reportedly doing the best.
- Port Alberni: open July 1st for Sockeye.
