Local Rivers:
Fraser River: tidal and non-tidal – Closed to all fishing except Sturgeon. Fisheries has yet to announce opening dates for salmonids and trout; we should know by the first week of July on openings if any!!
Chilliwack/Vedder: Opens for Chinook, Trout and Steelhead July 1st. It is too high to fish from the train bridge at Yarrow to the mouth, but this is where the springs will be! Troll for them with spoons; spinners; spinglows and apex. Above Yarrow the water is perfect use bait from there and up the roe, shrimp, worms, single egg sacs or Kitimat lures, crocodiles, big Indiana’s in reds and pinks. Four Salmon Daily – quota ONLY 1 over 60cm.
Chehalis/Harrison: There is no word on slot sizes or limits yet!
Local Lakes: are still giving up Rainbows; Cutthroat and White fish, some Kokanee around. Use pink flash and lures or krill and egg sacks, also Sockeye patterns or use trolling methods, apex lures and buck tails tipped with krill scent in Harrison and Kawkawa.
Interior Lakes: June slowed in the Cariboo but has taken off again. Fly fishing with chrionomids is the ticket to success, size of your patterns is critical – #12 & #14 in chrome, gun metal. Also arm yourself with nymphs, caddies, half backs, damsels and ‘gomphes dragons’ matching the hatch sizes. As the lights gets bright go deep and troll!
The West Kootenays is really good right now. For those travelling east, troll deep with down riggers, buck tails and sockeye patterns, spoons, crocks and Len Thompson’s Crimon 7 – 10pm
Size is key – 12 & 14 chromey gun metal colours, pumpkin head. Nymphs, caddies, half backs, damsels, gomphes dragon 10,12,14, KOK = pink flies and lures, pink krill. Troll apex and back tail and down rigger and sockeye patterns. Stay safe and socially distant!

Double check the new regulation changes for the Vedder. Until aug 31 it’s 1 Chinook per day.
I was just looking for West Kootenays and landed here thanks 🙂
Glad to be of help!
