Local Rivers (non-tidal)

1) Fraser; still coloured up but warming up due to slowing of interior melt. Freshet is still occurring bringing lots of debris with it.

Sturgeon fishing is excellent, I personally boated six sturgeon on the May long weekend, from Jesperson Rd down to the Vedder. Oolichons and lamprays were the ticket to success.

Still waiting to hear of results from the meeting with SportFisheries, DFO, Aboriginal and Commercial reps on whether or not we will get Sockeye and Chinook openings! Aboriginals asking for more fish kill.

2) Vedder closed to all angling until July.

3) Interior Lakes are on fire right now….Sheraton, Horse, Deka, Sulphureous: all reporting big fish. Best baits for Cariboo are leaches, chrionomids and shrimp patterns. Worms and shrimp working well for us bait guys!

4) Local Lakes have also come alive. Best baits are blood worms, shrimp and single salmon eggs.
Fly Anglers are using half backs, spratleys and chrionomids.

5) I am currently waiting for confirmation from either Kyle Ackles or Don Stall regarding ditch and lamprey eel fishing methods and retention for food or bait.
