We are excited to finally be back up and running- officially, since the beginning of July. Four months off from official training has been a challenge for our athletes, but they have all done well keeping active on their own.
We have a record number of athletes and parents signed up with our Club this year- making us one of the biggest clubs in BC! Our Club and Athletes scored very well on the Provincial points system for win placements- especially since over 80% of our athletes have been in the sport for 2 years or less. Based on our results from last year, we have 7 athletes (out of 18) who have been named to the various Provincial and National Development teams. Congratulations to them for their hard work.
Now that we are back at it, our focus has been on dryland training but we are very excited to get back to shooting once we have everything in place for doing so safely. A record number of athletes and fewer spots for shooting will make for very creative training! We are also hoping to participate in a virtual biathlon competition in August.
Biathlon BC is hoping that there will be an actual season of competitions, so we are working towards that- and hopefully things get better so it will all happen.
