LOCAL RIVERS

Fraser River: Non-tidal and tidal portions – (Mission Bridge and up is non-tidal). Water level has risen significantly since the February melt, conditions are heavily stained in both tidal and non-tidal portions. Be cautious while boating as debris from the north is moderate to heavy. Some sturgeon are being hooked by changing baits often! Roe and Eels best baits. The Steelhead are at your feet, keep baits large and bright!

Chilliwack/Vedder Rivers: conditions are – big water! moderately stained from Mt Thurston down; cleaner and lower as you change elevations. Steelhead are in tight and move out into their lairs as light conditions increase! Medium sized baits combined with bright colours are preferred now. There are a lot of Facebook photo’s of anglers preferring jigs tipped with krill or roe sacks!

Chehalis River: water is heavy now due to massive melt. Again, fish are at your feet! Best baits are roe/single egg sacks/worms/bright spoons 1/0 & 2/0

LOCAL LAKES

are still slow but Mother Nature will soon change that.

Interior Lakes are still producing when angling at lower elevations! Watch the conditions and ice – proceed cautiously!

General

To any of the AFGC membership that can help! The Fraser River Annual Clean-up will be held Saturday March 18th from 10 – 1pm. Meeting area at Gill Rd and Ferry. For further information contact Loren63@telus.net. Anyone that can come with a trailer, always greatly appreciated!

I am planning a meeting with Fraser Valley Regional District to discuss waiving boat launch fee’s for 65+ and the disabled. I need signatures of Fraser Valley residents for the proposal. Please contact me as I need the membership and public’s help to make this work; as we have paid for the Island 22 boat launch long enough! Combined with the fact it was built and paid for by our tax dollars through the Chilliwack Armed Forces years ago.
