First off, the Board of Directors would like to take this opportunity to thanks all of the volunteers who came out to help with this year’s annual Open House! Without so many members putting in many hours of time, it would not happen.

With the sun peaking out from the dissipating smoke, it was a great relief to see the overnight rain move on so AFGC could host another wonderful Open House for it’s members as well as members of the public. This year was especially challenging due to only weekend available this summer happened to fall on the same weekend as the Abbotsford Airshow as well as the Chilliwack Fair, both large local events.

Due to this, the number of visitors was a little lower than previous years, but that just meant more shooting fun for the people who did show up and participate. There were all sorts of sub-club representatives out from Archery to Trap, ATS, IPSC, 22 club and more! This is always a great event to see what is going on at the club, and try out some different guns and bows. Our new Caretakers, Dan and Audrey jumped right in to help and made sure the ranges were spic-and-span before the fun began!

We had our highly recommended food truck on site, Helm’s Mobile Kitchen for some great food over lunch and local company, Joint Force Tactical showed up to lend and hand and support the club.

After the event was over the volunteers were treated to an on-site pig roast to help fill their bellies and rest their weary feet. This is always a great time to catch up with other members you may not have seen for quite some time.

Take a look through some of the photos from the event and if you missed this one, we’d love for you to come out and join us for our Open House next year! We’re always looking for volunteers to help make this event more popular than ever!
