Range 2 Expansion Project Update [Photos]

First we would like to thank all our members for their patience as we work hard to improve the ranges at AFGC. We are doing our best to keep range closures to a minimum, but in the end it will all be worth it!

Our Range 2 expansion is going as planned and is progressing well. The footings have been poured, the structure is well in place and the lights are being tested. This expansion will increase the size of our 100m Range 2 with 14 new shooting positions as well as a dedicated Range Officer booth, a welcome improvement, especially during the busy months!

As we were able to come in under budget on this project, it was decided to do some additional improvements to the other Ranges, including improved drainage, and power, water and communication lines for future use. We are also pouring a concrete pad on Range 5 for improved safety and a better shooting experience. This will allow us to add some much needed cover in the near future on this Range.

We are hoping to have the expansion completed by the end of the month and ready to use. Check out the photos below to see the progress.

Unfortunately the tunnel boring machine didn’t make it this year’s budget. 😉

    Hi,

Range two and five upgrades look awesome!

Curious will we be having a range officer on duty hence forward? If so, when did that get approved?$

    Thanks!

There are no plans for a permanent Range Officer currently, but we realize that if membership were to increase, this may be a necessity.

    Thanks.
