On the May Long Weekend, AFGC hosted the Provincial Target Shooting Championships.

Many expert shooters from all over BC joined in events including 10 M Air, Smallbore (.22 Caliber) and Center Fire Pistol.

On Saturday, we had both 10 M Air Rifle, 10 M Air Pistol competitions.

Smallbore Sporting Rifle events occurred on Sunday. Men’s and Women’s Prone and 3 Position (Prone, Kneeling, Standing) were followed on Monday by Match Rifle Prone and 3 Position.

Pistol events included 50 M Pistol on Saturday, and the remaining 4 events on Sunday. These events included 25 M Rapid Fire, 25 M Sport Pistol, 25 M Standard Pistol and Center Fire Pistol.

In all, 41 athletes participated ranging from under 16 years old to Seniors competed in 10 events. Shooting truly is a lifetime sport.

Many of the shooters and the audience complemented our range as one of the very best they have seen.

Thanks to all who helped, including the Trap club for giving up the range on Sunday, our caretakers for their help and keeping our range a showpiece in the province, and the members who gave up range time to allow us to use ranges 1, 2 and 2b on a long weekend.
