Thank you to everyone who has come out tonight, it is greatly appreciated to see people attending the AGM and show their interest in how the club is run.
Special thanks to Dan and Audrey for their continued amazing work at the club during dangerous storms and floods. Without them our facility would not be what it is today.
It has been another trying year for AFGC. As many know we’ve had a range closure for almost a year now due to a small accident that occurred on that range. We have been dealing with getting the necessary engineering done to raise the height of the walls on 2, 3 and 4 to ensure that this won’t happen again. We are also waiting on our range inspection by the CFO to get 2B up and running as well as range 4 again. I understand how frustrating it is, but unfortunately this work needs to be done, and dealing with construction in Abbotsford is extremely difficult at the best of times.
That said, the reno of the clubhouse is almost complete, I know we’ve said that a bunch of times and every time we do, the city finds yet another way to drag it out. Most of the issues have been dealt with, the last being the kitchen, which we are hoping will be finished very soon.
We survived two attempts by Mother Nature to flood us this winter and spring, and she may try again. Thankfully no damage resulted from this, just a couple days of range closures while waiting for the water to subside.
Is there a reason why we cannot look into another engineering company to do the job? Like you said it has been almost a year and they still haven’t figured out the answer yet. Range 4 is the only range I shoot at.
Unfortunately the only company that can do the precast, pre stressed cable reinforced panels we need, works with a specific engineer, same one that did the engineering of the original panels. No other firms were interested or, would have been a 3 year wait to, maybe, see them do the engineering, and at a significantly higher price.
I understand now thank you for letting me know I understand
