This is one of the mildest summers in recent history, lets be thankful we aren’t experiencing a heat dome like Europe is right now, or parts of eastern Canada did early this summer. But should that happen, don’t forget we have AC in the bathrooms and water fountains and bottle fillers available at the club to keep you hydrated.

We are still waiting on the city to approve our plan for the kitchen, and once that is done we can finally get occupancy of the renovated and updated clubhouse. We are all very very frustrated at the constant goal line being moved regarding the reno/restoration, but hopefully, soon, it will be completed.

I recently attended the European Handgun Championship in Buzak Hungary and can tell you it was a top notch event. First time ever shooting stages on Astro Turf and I am now a convert for it, the single best surface to be running around shooting. I ended up 70th in the world in Production Division, 10th overall in Senior, with 75% and 85% respectively. The range was absolutely massive with long distance rifle available and at least 30 large action bays. A huge vendors area that was right at the entrance of the facility, and allowed for easy access for everyone. Food and drink services all over the range, with local food and more western foods as well. It was the single best IPSC match I’ve ever attended in every way. Looking forward to going back there next year for the PCC Euros.

I’ve been contacted a number of times by executors of estates and older members, about donating firearms to the club, yes, we accept firearms as donations, including restricted firearms, handguns etc. The only firearms we can’t accept are any of the newly prohibited ones, those unfortunately are not transferable. So you if you know someone who is looking to get out of the shooting sports, or if someone has passed away with a collection, please contact me at president@afgc.ca and we can see if we can help you out.

For our new members, please make sure that you read the rules and understand them, you cannot uncase firearms on the back benches, it can only be done at the shooting benches, and only when the lights are red. No handling of firearms during a green light. Failure to abide by these rules will lead to a member conduct hearing that could result in your membership being terminated.

We are still waiting on the inspection of the ranges by the CFO, they know the work is done and we are on “the list”, but have not been advised of a date for it to occur.
