We’ve had two more mortalities. One, we attribute to possible predation; evidence at the site suggested wolf predation, though there was not much left by the time we got there. The second mortality has not been investigated yet. Weather hampered the initial rapid-response mortality investigation, and we’ve been unable to secure a helicopter since with the busy wildfire season. This brings the total number of mortalities to 6 since collars were deployed in March 2025.

We completed the mark-resight inventory in July 2026. Data analysis and report writing are underway, and we’ll have the report finalized this fall.
